Children’s Growth Awareness Day hosted by The MAGIC Foundation

September 11, 2012

Organization: The MAGIC Foundation

On September 28, 2012, the MAGIC Foundation and social media are changing children’s lives when
‘Growth Spurt’ goes worldwide (again).

Chicago, Il. – Last year, one simple Facebook post quickly turned into a worldwide phenomenon catching The MAGIC Foundation off guard. The post was a simple message about the importance of monitoring how a child grows and asking others to circulate it among parents. The response was shocking! MAGIC quickly became overloaded with emails, social media posts and the phone lines went “nuts”! Scrambling to keep up, the Foundation coined the name, Growth Spurt, as it became an international online event. Parents insisted that MAGIC repeat this unique educational outreach annually.

Friday, September 28th, 2012 is the Growth Spurt’s designated, 2nd Annual online event.

The message is simple: Children grow. But what if they grow too little or too fast? Is this important? How much a child grows IS a major sign of his or her overall health. Medical problems ranging from nutrition problems, to hormone imbalances and including serious conditions such as unidentified kidney problems or even brain tumors can all exhibit early signs by changing how much that child grows.

This potentially life altering information has been experienced by thousands of families. It is the reason families from throughout the world are poised to send emails, tweets, Facebook posts and other online notices on September 28, 2012. The initiative is coined ‘Growth Spurt,’ and its goal is to educate the general public regarding the value of watching how much a child grows.

This “lesson learned the hard way” is why ‘Growth Spurt’ is so crucial to The MAGIC Foundation. Families and supporters are selflessly giving their time and energy to reach out to the world to help unidentified children who may be in the early stages of a serious medical problem. The goal; to educate parents while their is still time for positive medical intervention.

The primary message: If you are concerned about your child’s growth, use the online growth chart and read the medical information available at www.magicfoundation.org.
