Growth Awareness Week Starts September 15th

September 13, 2014

Organization: The MAGIC Foundation

People from all corners of the world unite online and change their Facebook profile and Banner pictures to the exact same one with the exact message. It is a BIG world- so working together as one—we hope to be heard and help children everywhere!

We send personal emails to our friends, family and post messages to Facebook and online groups about the importance of children’s growth. The messages, facebook pictures, tweets and emails are already prepared so that the only thing families have to do is copy and paste a united message. It takes only minutes to complete and we hope our friends forward the message along to more friends. The simple message can save the future health of affected children and adults throughout the world!

United, we make more noise than we can by ourselves. We have only been conducting this online campaign for three years, but our combined efforts have reached families around the world and changed children’s lives! Children with previously unidentified syndromes have received medical attention!

We seek awareness on this day in honor of all endocrine-related disorders including:

CAH (Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia),
ONH/SOD (Optic Nerve Hypoplasia / Septo Optic Dysplasia),
Hypothyroidism,
GHD (Growth Hormone Deficiency),
RSS (Russell Silver Syndrome),
SGA (Small for Gestational Age),
Hypophosphatasia,
Turner Syndrome,
Panhypopituitarism,
IGFD (Insulin-like Growth Factor Deficiency),
MAS (McCune-Albright Syndrome,
Precocious Puberty
ISS (Idiopathic Short Stature)
Our focus is making people aware of normal growth & how abnormal growth impacts the life of a child.   Help us spread the word by sharing any of the following messages on your social media.
“Children have a short time to grow & a lifetime to live with the results”. Is your child growing normally? https://bit.ly/osip9q
A child who is not growing normally may have an undiagnosed medical condition. Find out more: https://bit.ly/osip9q
Height is nature’s early warning signal; a visual alarm for parents and physicians. Find out more: https://bit.ly/1dbvvN
After the age of 3, a normal child should grow between 2 & 2 1/2 inches per year. https://bit.ly/osip9q
