Oh my dear readers, Fall Fashion Week is finally upon us!! With tonight’s event kicking off seven days of fashion mayhem, I could hardly contain my excitement as I made my way to Greenwich Village for the Reco Jeans charity benefit.
The Global Genes Project hosted the evening’s silent auction and fashion show at Greenhouse Nightclub, which is a tree hugger’s dream lounge come true. Featuring VeeV acai spirits at the open bar, a dazzling display of organic hors d’oeuvres from Cer te Catering, and music by DJ White Label, even the most eco-friendly guest was satisfied.
After walking the GREEN carpet and posing for the photogs, I was waved past the velvet ropes and handed a gift bag filled with swag from Crisp Restaurant, Goody hair accessories, Sleek Medspa, and City Lights Cruises.
Inside the lounge were a myriad of items up for auction as well, including overnight accommodations at Shearwater Inn in the Hamptons and swank sunglasses designed by NY-based artist Matthew Langille (whose whimsicle work has been translated into Swatch watches, Havaianas flip flops, and now… Reco Jeans).
The fashion show started promptly at 8pm down the rope-lit runway with the unveiling of Reco Jeans’ new denim line dubbed ‘MrNY’. They prove that recycled threads can look, fit, and feel just as fabulous as those other designer brands, and all with the added benefit of helping save the planet. GorgeouslyGreen.com calls them “the sexiest fitting jeans ever”, and who can argue with that?
The best part of the evening was knowing that all monies raised will benefit children with rare diseases and provide support to their families. The Global Genes Project is competing to win Pepsi’s Refresh Project during the month of September, so please visit www.vote4Hope.org to cast your vote for a great cause!
