The Shire BRAVE Awards 2013 are here and nominations are now being accepted through June 30, 2013! Help us to SHARE the WORD with your community!
The BRAVE Awards is an annual awareness campaign that recognizes and honors everyday people who distinguish themselves as caregivers to another individual(s) in a meaningful, dedicated and selfless manner, demonstrating the brave spirit of Shire’s culture and values.
Please visit the BRAVE Awards website at www.ShireBRAVEAwards.com to learn more about the program and read about past recipients. Eligible nominees must be at least 18 years of age, be an active caregiver, and be a non-professional caregiver – doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals do not qualify for an Award and should not be nominated.
For the Shire BRAVE Awards, a caregiver is defined as an individual who is voluntarily providing regular, consistent care for another person(s). The caregiver cannot be a professional healthcare provider and cannot be compensated in any formal way through their efforts as a caregiver. The caregiver can be a relative, neighbor or friend who gives their time, support and compassion regularly, helping another person(s) who is (partly or wholly) unable to care for themselves due to health and wellness issues, injury or other extenuating circumstance.
Nominees must be at least eighteen (18) years of age or older at the time the nomination is submitted. Nominees must be an active caregiver.
Please review the complete Legal Disclosures and Rules posted on the BRAVE Awards website.
Here’s what it takes to nominate a caregiver for a Shire BRAVE Award:
1. Think about what makes the caregiver you know special. Ask yourself: What makes my nominee unique? What specific characteristics and actions of my nominee distinguish this person from others?
2. Review the nomination form. We suggest you review the information requested about yourself, your nominee and their role as a caregiver before completing and submitting your nomination.
Please do NOT disclose any specific information about medications or prescription drug products purchased, used or taken as part of the care recipient’s treatment. Where necessary, Shire will obtain this information at a later date. Please do tell us about the things that the caregiver you are nominating does which makes him or her exceptional. However, please do not provide any personal details about the care recipient (including their name, age etc.) unless (a) you are the care recipient and are nominating your caregiver for a Shire BRAVE Award OR (b) you have obtained the care recipient’s consent to provide such personal details.
4. Click “Submit.” If your nomination has been successfully transmitted, you’ll see a “thank you” message on your screen. We’ll also send a confirmation that your nomination has been received. The person you nominated will also receive a notice, informing them of their nomination (as well as a copy of the nomination form, if requested) and asking them to opt in or out of participation in the Shire BRAVE Awards. You will receive an email informing you of their decision. And yes, we will read each and every nomination. That’s it!
