Global Genes will educate viewers about rare disease resources on special show dedicated to Rare Disease Day as part of the “Behind the Mystery: Rare and Genetic Diseases” series. Popular show, The Balancing Act®, airing on Lifetime TV welcomes Global Genes– a leading patient advocacy group in the rare disease world– to the show as part of a special dedicated to Rare Disease Day on February 28, 2014.

The segment, “Navigating the Rare Disease World” will air as part of the ongoing “Behind the Mystery: Rare and Genetic Diseases” series produced by The Balancing Act.

Rare and genetic diseases affect one in 10 Americans and 300 million people worldwide. Over 7,000 distinct rare diseases exist and approximately 80 percent are caused by faulty genes. A representative for Global Genes will talk about their mission of raising rare disease awareness, research and education (R.A.R.E), building and unifying the rare community and resources available for all in the rare disease world.
