Two special girls are making and selling hair accessories to help their friend who is just beginning his battle against a rare disease. Maggie Brown and Madilynn Zoumberis stopped by Daybreak to tell us more about Loops for Lucas.
Brown and Zoumberis make hair bows to raise money for Lucas Payne. Lucas is almost two-years-old and he is diagnosed with leukodystrophy. Lucas is the son of Andy Payne, the assistant principal at Perry Primary, where most of the girls who are making the bows go to school.
Brown and Zoumberis are raising money to go toward Lucas’ medical expenses. The bows are $5 for one or $20 for five.
Loops for Lucas will be selling the bows at this weekend’s Lace Up for Lucas 5K & Family Fun Run. The race is Saturday, April 26 starting at KidzFit located at 670 Lake Joy Road in Kathleen. You can register the day of the race starting at 7 a.m. The race starts at 8 a.m. The 5K costs $20 and the fun run costs $15.
