2016 RARE Patient Impact Grant

2016 RARE Patient Grant Program is now closed for applications. Go to www.globalgenes.org/raregrants for the current grant program news.

The RARE Patient Impact Grant Program offers support groups and nonprofits that care for patients affected by rare diseases the opportunity to secure funding for projects that will make a tangible difference to their members.

Global Genes Foundation Partners can now apply for grants to directly support their disease community.  Applications are accepted October 15 to November 30, 2015 from nonprofit organizations and support groups that are part of our Foundation Partner.

Through this new program, launched at the 2015 Tribute to Champions of Hope, we provide invaluable grants to disorder-specific nonprofits to fund inspiring projects and support services.  Our grants bring together families affected by very rare diseases so that they can create their own support networks.  Examples of what grants will fund:

  • Specialist equipment for patients
  • Respite breaks for caregivers
  • Funding for specialist nurses and key workers to help families living with rare disease
  • Informational DVD to help families learn about their disease
  • Local community education days
  • Speech language therapy assistant
  • Sensory equipment for children
  • Weekend seminars led by expert scientists and medical professionals
  • Bringing patients together to tour a leading hospital or care center
  • National conferences
  • Family activity weekends
  • Mentor training programs
  • Sports programs for children with rare diseases
  • Childcare support at national conferences
  • Hosting art activities for children with rare diseases
  • Field trips for rare children – farm, boat, pumpkin patch, theater, etc.
  • Children’s activity books
  • Staffing support for special programs
  • Other programs that will help your Foundation or support group directly help patients in your community.
