The Notre Dame football team traded in their football cleats for bowling shoes Sunday at the Strike & Spares Event Center in Mishawaka.
The Notre Dame Chapter of Uplifting Athletes held its annual bowling event for the fourth consecutive year.
This event is held to support the mission of using college football as a platform to inspire the rare disease community with hope through the power of sport.
“This is a great opportunity for the kids to come out to enjoy the players and to get to know them, to speak one-on-one with them, to see their competitive side and to have fun,” said Elizabeth Carris, whose son attended the event. “It’s not a day where he has to worry about being sick or hospital dates or anything like that, it’s just a day for fun and it’s great that they can do this for the kids.”
The football team has participated in numerous community events this summer including playing local law enforcement in a charity softball game just a few weeks ago.
Not only is it important to them to spend time with the community, it’s also important to spend time together as teammates before the 2017 season gets underway.
