3 Year Old Boy Fighting 15q24 Microdeletion Syndrome Receives Beautiful “Two Generations of Hope” Bracelet

August 26, 2012

Courtney Retherford from Pleasant Plain, OH, and her 3 year old son Carson recently received their bracelets for hope in support of their fight against chromosome 15q24 microdeletion syndrome.   This condition has a wide range of characteristics  including developmental delay, hearing loss and hypotonia.  Along with being an amazing advocate for her son, Courtney and her family also receive support from Unique  – The Rare Chromosome Disorder Support Group for families affected by any rare chromosome disorder, located in the United Kingdom.

Receiving my package in the mail made my heart skip a beat. Inside were two beautiful bracelets, one like a friendship bracelet and the other a unique chain maille pattern with beautiful blue beads. Wearing these bracelets makes me feel connected to my son at all times. They have become great conversation starters about my son  and I am often asked where I got them.  It makes people aware of many different charities that are out there to give support, not just the ones you see on TV all the time. Thank you for this program. It’s amazing how something so simple as a bracelet can make you feel happy every time you look at it.   – Courtney Retherford, OH

Thank you Courtney and family for sharing your story with us.  We are glad that your bracelets have put a smile on your face and hope in your heart!
