Boy With Rare Disorder Delivers 600 Toys to Kids at Children’s Hospital

December 22, 2013

A 10-year-old boy who suffers from a rare degenerative disease is hoping to make this Christmas a little merrier for other sick children who will likely be spending the holidays in the hospital.

It is the fourth year that Casey Abrams has organized a holiday toy drive to benefit children at the Chase Child Life program at Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA.

Casey has been a frequent patient at UCLA since birth and has spent many holidays and birthdays in the hospital and formed a very special bond with the doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers, hospital officials said.

When he was 6-years-old he decided that he wanted to give the other kids at the hospital an awesome holiday, according to family members.

This year, 600 toys were collected from community members, local Brownie troops, the Lost Cruizer’zz Car Club and the SoCal Challengers Car Club.

They will be distributed during the holiday season as well as on patients’ birthdays or when they undergo procedures, hospital officials said.
