First Annual “Dollar Denim Days” Campaign for Batten Disease on World Rare Disease Day

February 23, 2013

Event Date: February 25th-March 1st 2013

Organization: Two Hearts Rock, Global Genes

Location: Community Unit School District 220 (Private Event)

In 2009 Bridget Kennicott, of Barrington, was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition: Late Infantile Batten Disease which begins between ages two and four. The typical early signs are loss of muscle coordination (ataxia) and seizures along with progressive mental deterioration. This form of Batten disease progresses rapidly and ends in death between ages eight and 12. We will always have hope for a cure and always have hope for Bridget.

In recognition of World Rare Disease Day February 28th, Two Hearts Rock joins Global Genes Project, in promoting the needs of the rare and genetic disease community under a unifying symbol of hope– the Blue Denim Genes Ribbon™.

Students and Staff Can Show That They CARE about RARE!
Wear the Blue Denim Genes Ribbon™ & jeans every day during this weeklong campaign & donate a $1 each time you don your denim. All proceeds benefit Global Genes Project & Hope 4 Bridget Foundation, supporting scientific discoveries for Batten disease.
