Global Genes Now Accepting Nominations for the 2013 RARE Champion of Hope Awards

Whether it was a doctor, nurse, researcher or foundation owner—there is an entire community of people who help to support patients, parents and families with a rare illness. Now we can honor and thank those who made a difference as we select nominees for the Tribute to Champions of Hope.
This September, The Global Genes Project will host its 2nd Annual Tribute to Champions of Hope™ Gala, where we will have the chance to recognize those who dedicate their efforts to improving the lives of others with rare and genetic diseases.
We welcome you to nominate someone you feel is deserving of public recognition in any of the categories below.
Medical Care & Treatment RARE Champion
Recognizing an individual who goes above and beyond in clinical care and treatment for a rare disease patient, family or the community at large. Someone who engages with a patient/family with a rare disease to optimize care and treatment. This person could be a doctor, nurse or special care provider.
Research & Science RARE Champion
Recognizing an individual who is moving the bar in rare disease research and science. Whether from academia, industry, a clinic or an advocacy group, this person works to advance research for a specific rare disease or is a key agent in the provision of tools and approaches to developing and/or delivering more effective treatments for the rare community.
Collaborations in Advocacy (New for 2013!)
In order to advance efforts related to advocacy, we are finding collaborations are critical and necessary. We are looking to honor those organizations and individuals who see the importance and value in collaborating around a rare disease or group of diseases. Submissions must include names of all parties included in the collaboration.

***Award Recipients are not based on number of submissions. All nominations will be reviewed and winner decided by the Global Genes | RARE Project Award Committee***
Last year’s event took place in Newport Beach, CA and welcomed over 400 members of the rare and genetic disease community—including patients, parents, advocates and professionals from leading pharmaceutical companies.
