Highlighting nonprofits in Orange County, I ♥ OC is an event to help celebrate these organizations, inspire the community to come together, and build funds to help see their goals through!
Global Genes is getting involved. Want to help support us during this event? During the iheartOC 30-hour giving period, there are many ways to help Global Genes win prizes that could double, even triple, your donation! See the prizes to increase our giving day pool below:
1) Grow the Good Bonus Pool
The Orange County Community Foundation is providing a bonus pool of $500,000. All donations made during the 30-hour period of iheartOC will receive a prorated portion of the bonus pool. For example, if a total of $1.5 million is contributed on Giving Day and Global Genes raised $15,000, Global Genes would receive a bonus grant of 1% of the pool, or $4,000 extra.
2) Get in the Game
Early Bird Gets the Worm Prize
$1,000 each to the first ten organizations to obtain 50 unique gifts of $50 or more.
Club 1,000
$1,000 prize for the first two organizations to obtain a gift of $1,000 or more.
Power Up Prize
$1,500 to 16 organizations that raise the most during these three-hour windows of time:
April 21
The Morning Drive: 6 am – 9 am
Coffee Break: 9 am – noon
Out to Lunch: noon – 3 pm
Happy Hour: 3 pm – 6 pm
Prime Time: 6 pm – 9 pm
Late Night: 9 pm – midnight
April 22
Early Riser: 6 am – 9 am
Bring it Home!: 9 am – noon
3)Mega Multiplier
1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th place prizes in each budget category for the highest number of unique donors during the 30-hour giving period (unique donor is defined as one gift from one donor).
1st Place = $5,000
2nd Place = $3,000
3rd Place = $2,000
4th Place = $1,000
4) Golden Ticket
$1,000 will be added to one randomly selected gift per hour. For example, if a $25 donation is selected, the gift becomes $1,025!
5) Nonprofit Central Challenge!
$1,500 will be awarded to the organization with the most unique visits to its Nonprofit Central profile on Giving Day! A simple click HERE gets Global Genes in the running!

What is I ♥ OC Giving Day?
In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Orange County Community Foundation, the OCCF is super-charging local giving by hosting Orange County’s first-ever countywide giving day on April 21-22, 2015. Secure, tax-deductible donations will be accepted on iheartOC.org during a 30-hour period, and Global Genes will be eligible to receive funding through bonus awards and prizes provided by OCCF and Giving Day partners.
The goal of the I♥OC Giving Day is to inspire our community to come together with extra-mile giving in support of the exemplary work of Global Genes and OC nonprofits. OCCF is aiming high with the goal of delivering $2 million to OC nonprofits in a 30-hour period. OCCF is investing $500,000 to establish the bonus pool with a goal of generating an additional $1.5 million in online donations.
How Does it Work?
The Orange County Community Foundation has set up an online platform with searchable profiles of participating nonprofits. All donations will be processed through the website iheartoc.org. Anyone can donate to Global Genes from April 21 at 6AM PST through 12PM PST on April 22, 2015 viaiheartoc.org. Nonprofits and donors can track progress throughout the event.
