“Her Majesty Was Deeply Moved,” Queen Replies to Song-Writer Father of Son with Tay Sachs

February 18, 2015

A loving Erdington father who was inspired to write music by the tragic passing of his two-year-old son has received the Royal seal of approval for his work.

Antonello Atzori penned a variety of songs for son Luca after he was diagnosed with Tay Sachs

The youngster sadly passed away last year but Antonello has continued to write songs to raise money for the charity ‘Luca Loves Life’ which was set up in his memory to raise money for Acorn Children’s Hospice, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Tay-Sachs Research.

Recently, he wrote a song for the Queen, entitled ‘My Queen’, which was given recognition from her Majesty, herself.

After sending the CD to the Queen, Antonello received an official reply.

Lady-in-Waiting Susan Hussey said: “The Queen was touched to learn that you composed songs to play to Luca during his illness and that, since his death, you have made recordings of your music to raise funds for the charity which you have set up in his memory.

“Her Majesty was also deeply moved that you have composed a song in her honour.

“Her Majesty wishes me to convey her best wishes and to you and your family, and I am to thank you for the loyal and supportive sentiments you expressed.”

Anotenello, who also has a six-year-old daughter called Ella, was shocked with the reply.

He said: “I never expected to hear from the Queen as I did; it really made my day. I had never written a song in my life until Luca’s diagnosis. I had never even sang before.

“Luca inspired me to write every single song and go ahead with it; I know and I feel it is the right thing to do. It is never easy as I don’t have the knowledge or confidence but in the past couple of years I have improved a lot and I am not going to stop.”
