Made By Mer Talent Transforms Into Support for Global Genes

September 21, 2015

Earlier, we introduced you to an amazing young woman who had created a unique way to fundraise for her favorite charities. Instead of 5K’s and challenge videos–she  took to interested businesses who might need a new website.

“I took a web design class in my freshman and sophomore years,” said Butenhoff. In exchange for the site, the business who use her services donate their payment to a charity of Mer’s choice. She’s produced several other websites before this. Her latest project was able to raise $500 for Global Genes.

“We couldn’t be more grateful,” said Global Genes Founder, Nicole Boice.”This is a fundraiser that involves hard-work, talent, and ingenuity. Meredith’s creative efforts are going to help us provide the rare disease community with the kind of resources patients and their caregivers need year-round.

Meredith isn’t shutting down shop just yet. The last website she built was called The Sick Chicks.

“This site means a lot to me because it was for a good friend of mine, Shira Strongin. The website brings together a community of chronically ill young adults who are doing something to give back to the community. Whether that’s sending care packages to teens in the hospital or advocate for social justice, Meredith is proud to be a part of the program.

Next up? “I am currently working on a site for a new business called Patrona Medical and they have decided to donate to Palmetto Animal Assisted Life Services (PAALS).”
