NTSAD Grateful for Community Support After Imagine & Believe Benefit Raises $80K

December 2, 2015

Friends, family, and rare disease community partners joined National Tay-Sachs & Allied Diseases Association for an evening to Imagine & Believe and raised $80,000 to date to support families, and raise awareness. And thanks to the generosity of many guests at the end of the evening, the organization is now closer to being able to fund a session at their Annual Family Conference that allows families to be involved in patient-driven research!

Their honoree, Bob Coughlin, spoke about the culture of the rare disease community and generously shared his personal connection with rare diseases. Progress has been made in advancing and funding rare disease research through his leadership and dedication.  NTSAD and the rare community salute Bob for his focus on healthcare in legislature during his terms in office.

Kate Hubbard, Brook’s mom, shared her story about how connecting with other families was paramount as her family cared for Brook during her all too brief life with Tay-Sachs. As she said, “NTSAD is THE source for families affected by Tay-Sachs and its allied diseases. Without them, many would be lost.”  Kate then introduced a moving short slideshow showing the faces of some of the organization’s beautiful families. Thanks to Kate’s impassioned plea, guests made gifts raising nearly an additional $6,500.
