Event Details
Taylor’s Tale hosted a candlelight vigil on Feb. 28 to commemorate Rare Disease Day 2014 and honor the millions fighting a rare disease. The vigil, which was free and open to the public, began at 6 p.m. at the bandshell in Freedom Park, 1900 East Boulevard, Charlotte, NC.

Rare Disease Day is an international event that raises awareness in support of people with a rare disease, the health care professionals and caregivers who support them, and the researchers who are seeking treatments for the more than 7,000 rare diseases that afflict more than one in 10 Americans and an estimated 350 million people around the globe.

The theme of Rare Disease Day 2014 is “Join Together for Better Care.” This highlights the need for improved care for rare disease victims, the support needed by their caregivers and the efforts made by health care providers to treat rare disease patients.
