Last week, the U.S. House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Committee released a revised version of its 21st Century Cures legislation. Launched in April 2014, the 21st Century Cures Initiative is intended to “accelerate the pace of cures and medical breakthroughs in the United States.” The Committee focused its attention on the “innovation cycle” – discovery, development and delivery processes – of biopharmaceuticals and devices, including ways to modernize regulatory pathways to advance patient access to innovative therapies. Authors of the 21st Century Cures legislation looked at barriers and opportunities across the innovation spectrum, including biomedical research and FDA regulation of medical products.
Please join us at PhRMA on May 12th at 12pm for an informational briefing to discuss the most recent draft of the 21st Century Cures bill, including its potential impact on patients. A question-and-answer session will be included. This briefing is great opportunity to learn more about the 21st Century Cures Initiative and the related draft bill.
