Vertex Announces New Scholarship Contest, Ready to Accept Submissions

Vertex Pharmaceuticals has announced the launch of “All In for CF Scholarship,” a new program for patients with CF and/or their family members who are pursuing a two-year, four-year, or graduate degree in the United States. Applications are being accepted now through March 7, 2017, and recipients will be announced in May. Vertex will award 40 scholarships of $5,000 each to members of the CF community for the 2017-2018 school year.

ALL IN FOR CF COMMUNITY FUND

Vertex is committed to supporting nonprofit organizations that help people living with CF and raise awareness about the disease. Types of programming we support include patient education and advocacy initiatives, or an organization’s specific event, particularly those intended to support a healthy, active lifestyle.
In the past year, we have sponsored events that unite the community to raise cystic fibrosis awareness across the country.

CYSTIC FIBROSIS CIRCLE OF CARE GRANTS

The Circle of Care is a competitive grant opportunity to fund innovative patient-centric programs for the CF community. Research initiatives funded by Vertex’s Circle of Care program include programs or tools that:

  • Support persons with CF living a fuller, more engaged lifestyle
  • Address the psycho-social challenges patients face with CF
  • Improve the overall support of the family members of patients with CF
  • Support patients with CF taking more ownership of their healthcare
  • Focus on the education of patients with CF, including topics on transition and adherence and navigating new environments with CF

The 2016 charitable grant recipients were announced in February 2016, and chosen from a pool of 58 proposals in 15 countries. Notable programs included initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for people with CF through empowerment programs, social initiatives and increased education.
