Curly Hair Ankyloblepharon Nail Dysplasia Syndrome
Type of disease: Rare conditions
Curly Hair-Ankyloblepharon-Nail Dysplasia, also known as CHANDS, is a rare genetic condition. This condition results from a mutation or error in a person’s DNA or genes. This can cause birth defects such as a curly woolen scalp, eyelids that are adhered together, and lack of finger and toenails, and sometimes missing teeth or cleft lip. Although there is currently no cure for CHANDS, there are resources to help manage the condition and treat birth defects, such as corrective surgery. Doctors seek help from various therapists and community services to provide support and care for families affected by CHANDS.
