Type of disease: Rare conditions
Laryngocele is a rare disorder characterized by abnormal growth of an air sac associated with the voice box. The enlarged air sac in the voice box can lead to impairment in speaking and breathing. Individuals with this disorder may experience symptoms such as breathing problems, fatigue, and higher frequency of illness. This condition may be diagnosed based on a physical exam and imaging tests. If the air sac has reached a dangerous size, doctors may suggest patients undergo surgery to remove the air sac from the larynx.
