ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — July 2, 2018 — Global Genes®, the leading rare disease patient advocacy organization, today announced new and expanded roles for two members of the executive team, and a shift in focus for its Founder, all designed to prepare for a next phase of growth and enhance operational support for key initiatives.
Angie Rowe, who joined Global Genes in 2015 as Chief Operating Officer, with more than 20 years experience in executive management of LLCs and non-profits, will take on new responsibilities as interim Executive Director. In this role, Angie will work directly with the Global Genes Board of Directors to oversee financial management, human resources, fundraising, corporate engagement and event goals of the organization.
Tiffany Leite, current Chief Program Officer, will step in as Chief Operating Officer. Tiffany joined the organization in 2017 and brings nearly 20 years of experience in marketing and nonprofit leadership. She will drive strategic planning as well as the patient engagement, marketing, and technology pillars of Global Genes’ operations.
As the organization marks its 10year anniversary, Founder and CEO Nicole Boice is also evolving her role at Global Genes to focus on scaling up development efforts to support continued growth, with an emphasis on several major initiatives the organization expects to roll out in the coming year. Nicole will also continue to represent the organization as a global rare disease ambassador and passionate advocate for patient communities, and serve on Global Genes Board of Directors
“I’m excited for what these changes will help Global Genes achieve for our community,” said Boice. “After a decade of growth, we’ve reached a point where I can really focus my time and creative energies on making an impact for patients and advocates globally. I feel confident stepping away from a more traditional executive management role to do this knowing Angie and Tiffany now have the operational reins.”
“These changes are all about strengthening our organization’s capacity and positioning us for the growth ahead,” stated Angie Rowe. “Nicole is a visionary leader, and her energy and innovative thinking are a huge part of what’s propelled Global Genes forward. I’m looking forward to taking on these new leadership responsibilities, as is Tiffany. And we’re all thrilled to help create the opportunity for Nicole to dive more deeply into the work she loves most, to the benefit of the entire rare community.”
