RARE in the Square

A Unique Opportunity for Rare Disease Innovators to Catalyze Partnerships

January 7th – 9th, 2019

Welcome to the third annual RARE in the Square, to be hosted 8 am-5 pm January 7-9, 2019. Set in San Francisco’s Union Square, and coinciding with J.P. Morgan’s annual Healthcare Conference, RARE in the Square is a unique networking event that assembles investors, industry partners, patient community leaders, and influencers. It offers a forum for rare disease stakeholders to gather in a distinctive and convenient location to connect, network, and unwind, all at the epicenter of the J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference.

RARE in the Square participants are offered unparalleled visibility and opportunities to collaborate and to forge partnerships that catalyze rare disease innovation and therapeutics. Uniquely positioned to host a partnering event that gathers key rare disease stakeholders, Global Genes, together with patient groups and industry partners, set the stage for building partnerships that promote the emerging role of patients as partners and drivers in rare disease drug development.

In collaboration with Demy Colton and EBD Group, Global Genes is also hosting a panel during the 2019 Biotech Showcase. Join us as we discuss the new era of patient-led collaborations in rare disease drug discovery on Tuesday, January 8th, at 4:30 pm PT at the Hilton Union Square.

It used to be that patient groups were involved at the beginning (advocating for research) and the end (demanding access) of drug discovery and development. Today—enabled by the emergence of and access to new technologies and spurred on by the shortcomings of traditional drug discovery and development—rare disease communities are aggregating data, establishing collaborative research networks and nimble partnerships with industry, and even creating companies to accelerate the speed and enhance the productivity of drug discovery. Hear about who and what is behind these models, and implications even beyond rare disease, in particular for investors, from expert stakeholders in a stand-and-deliver format that will keep you energized and engaged.
