Robert Ring, Ph.D.

Dr. Robert Ring has over 16 years experience in executive, strategic and technical leadership roles in the pharmaceutical, non-profit and venture philanthropy sectors. Ring most recently served as the Chief Science Officer of Autism Speaks (AS), the world’s largest autism science and advocacy non-profit. Over its brief history AS awarded over $300M in R&D funding to improve treatment and diagnosis for individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Under his leadership, AS also launched the foundation’s innovative venture arm DELSIA, which was established to help stimulate and support commercial development of the autism field’s most promising scientific breakthroughs.

Prior to AS, Ring served on the leadership teams of Pfizer’s Neuroscience Unit and the CNS drug discovery and development team at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals.  A neuroscientist by training, Ring earned his Ph.D. from the City of Hope National Medical Center in his native Southern California.
