Young Chiari Patient Prepared Receives Cervical Fusion Surgery

November 24, 2015

A 5-year-old Waco girl is out of the hospital after undergoing cervical fusion surgery in New York, her fifth major operation in her short life.

Kaylie has Chiari Malformation with Syringomyelia, tethered cord and EDS for which there is no cure.

At her young age she has undergone three major brain surgeries, one back surgery and returned to the operating room earlier this month for the cervical fusion surgery, which was successful.

She and her mother, Tiffany, are now staying at the Ronald McDonald House on Long Island.

She will be going in for a follow-up with her neurosurgeon Thursday.

Donations to help subsidize her stay at the Ronald McDonald house can made in her name through the Ronald McDonald House Charity.
