Ehlers Danlos Syndrome Awareness Ireland (EDSAI) Asks You to Wear Red for EDS Awareness

May 21, 2015

Ehlers Danlos Syndrome Awareness Ireland (EDSAI) are launching a worldwide social media campaign this May as part of the 2015 EDS awareness month. This year’s theme is Vascular EDS (VEDS), the rare, life threatening sub type of the condition.

On Thursday, May 21, the #reds4veds campaign asks social media users to post a picture of themselves wearing the colour red in support of VEDS awareness. Don’t forget to put #reds4veds when posting! A twibbon is also available to use for profile pictures.

UK based charity, Annabelle’s Challenge have teamed up with EDS Awareness Ireland for this campaign. Both organisations are also working closely with all the EDS support groups and charities across Europe, US, Canada and Africa for the event.

“We are truly thrilled to have so many charities and groups getting involved in this campaign. From South Africa to America, we are all joined together to highlight the need for awareness, especially amongst medical professionals. We are especially delighted to be working with such a fantastic charity like Annabelle’s Challenge. The Griffin family have done tremendous work in raising awareness about this awful condition. Sadly, it is extremely under diagnosed, we want this to change so that sufferers can have a better quality of life,” says Chairperson of EDSAI, Yvonne Evans Nevin.

Annabelle’s father and founder of Annabelle’s Challenge, Jared Griffin says:

“During May EDS awareness month it is vitally important we all take the opportunity to focus on raising specific awareness of Vascular EDS which is life-threatening. Annabelle’s Challenge is delighted to be working closely with EDS Awareness Ireland to raise the profile of vascular EDS with the #reds4veds campaign.”
