Hello! This is Melissa Biliardi, your HELP 4 HD, The HD View and Help 4 HD News Channel host on Blog Talk Radio.

I am a mom, caregiver and advocate for my son who has Huntington’s disease.  Huntington’s disease (HD) is a fatal hereditary brain disease.  Huntington’s is an autosomal dominant gene mutation on chromosome 4 which means that it does not skip generations. Juvenile Huntington’s disease (JHD) is more virulent and devastating with seizures, dystonia and many other horrible and painful manifestations. Although a small percent of spontaneous cases do occur, about 1 in 10,000 people in the USA are diagnosed each year.

As the founder of Huntington’s Disease support groups, HD advocacy websites and non-profit organization, it is my privilege to help my son and others who are affected by HD by promoting awareness and education to everyone who will listen. Huntington’s disease does not discriminate against age, race, religion or lifestyle. Because I have experienced great challenges to provide care and support for my son, I know that I am not alone. All HD families have surmounted unbelievable obstacles caring for their H’Ders, yet many still suffer in silence.

THE MISSION is to introduce you to incredible personalities, professionals and laypeople; present vital information and inspiration to our Huntington’s community; and provide a forum for people to discuss the devastating issues surrounding our daily HD lives. Through broadcasting encouragement from those who are honorably working for the cure, I wish to bring hope to the HD community and give them a platform of support for their journey with this dreadful disease.

THE VISION is to reach people all over the world who are affected by Huntington’s disease; break through the boundaries of silence, misperceptions and discrimination about this disease; and provide a credible yet interesting, informative and positive place to tune-in.
