Relapsing Polychondritis Awareness and Support Foundation Announces New Study with NIH

October 11, 2016

The Relapsing Polychondritis Awareness and Support Foundation, Inc. (RPASF) is extremely pleased to be able to make the following announcement.

The National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is interested in studying patients with Relapsing Polychondritis (RP). Adult and pediatric patients are invited to come to the NIH in Bethesda, MD to participate in a research study. The purpose of the study is to observe how RP affects you and to collect blood samples for research. All patients will receive comprehensive clinical evaluation by physicians with experience caring for patients with RP. Specific treatments will not be offered as part of study participation, but recommendations will be provided to your regular doctors as appropriate.

If you are interested in participating or learning more about the study, please contact Dr. Marcela Ferrada from Monday – Friday from 9 am to 5 pm at 301-356-5068 or by email at [email protected]. All potential participants will undergo a screening process to determine if they satisfy the conditions for study participation.

It’s because of the hard work and devout dedication of everyone involved, from RPASF staff to our followers and the collaborative efforts between us and the NIH that we thankfully are able to make this announcement.

We thank the NIH, the board of directors of RPASF, our advocates and especially our followers for their wonderful and important support. We believe that this marks the beginning of critical research so your continued support is imperative for RPASF to reach its goals.

“When you have purpose, you have everything.”
