Barre Lieou Syndrome

Overview

Type of disease: Rare conditions

Barre Lieou syndrome, also known as posterior cervical sympathetic syndrome, is a disorder that causes discomfort and pain in people. Symptoms of Barre Lieou syndrome include migraines (headaches), ringing in the ears, dizzy spells, and ear and neck pain. Barre Lieou syndrome is caused by the nerves, cells that tell you if you are in pain, in the neck being pinched or irritated (bothered) by the vertebrae, the bones in a person’s neck. Barre Lieou syndrome can be caused by a whiplash event (where your head may snap back suddenly) and treatment usually involves exercises to strengthen the neck. Talk with your doctor to find the best treatment if you or a loved one has been diagnosed with Barre Lieou syndrome.
