Little Miss Hannah Foundation To Host First Annual “Rainbows to the Sky” Rare Disease Event in Henderson, Nevada

July 24, 2012

The Little Miss Hannah Foundation (LMHF) will host the First Annual “Rainbows to the Sky” Event on Wednesday, July 25, from 5:30 – 9:00 pm at The District at Green Valley Ranch. The event will feature family fun with music featuring DJ Miguel Guidos, activities from 93.1 radio, face painting, dance exhibitions by Gymcats, Legos building by Bricks 4 Kidz, kids karaoke, fantastic raffles, and other kid friendly activities.

The highlight of the evening will be three balloon releases (the “Rainbows to the Sky”) where attendees can release a balloon with a personal message to a loved one they lost. Raffle tickets will be sold for $1 each or 25 for $20 and balloons can be purchased for $5 each or $20 for 5.

The LMHF was created in December 2011 in memory of Hannah Ostrea, a beautiful 3-year-old girl who lost her battle against Neuronopathic Gaucher’s Disease, an extremely rare and life-limiting genetic metabolic disorder.  This date marks what would have been Hannah’s 4th birthday.

The mission of the non profit organization is to work with families who have young children with life-limiting rare diseases, undiagnosed complex medical needs, and children who have been placed in hospice or palliative care. By working hands-on with families that are faced with losing their child due to a medical condition, we will strive to empower, educate and support families during the most emotionally-charged times of their lives.  The foundation’s amazing efforts were recently featured in the Las Vegas Review Journal.

Proceeds from this event will be used to develop workshops and provide activities for siblings and families caring for medically-fragile and terminally-ill children.
