Being ignored is never a good feeling. But being ignored when you’re a sick patient in a hospital? For Morgan Gleason, it’s a feeling that’s become far too familiar — and she’s had enough.
The 15-year-old, who was diagnosed with Juvenile Dermatomyositis (JDM) when she was 11 years-old, took to YouTube where she posted an epic monologue voicing her frustration with the the way hospital patients are treated. The video, originally uploaded by her mother, has over 28,000 views since published on Jan. 22.
Specifically addressing the importance of sleep for sick patients and listening to their needs, Morgan also points out that teens deserve to be informed about what’s being done to their bodies.
“It really annoys me too when they [hospital staff] ignore you and they try to talk to your parents. I am 15 years-old. I know it’s not that old, but at least I should have some say in what I want being done to me,” says the teen. “I am the patient and I need to be heard.”
