User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Intern – Biostatistics

ROLE SUMMARY:

Global Genes is looking for a UAT – Biostatistics Intern to join our team. The internship requires approximately 20 hours of remote work per week and ideally, we would like the intern to commit to a 6-month internship.

About RARE-X and Global Genes:
Launched in 2021, the RARE-X research program enables robust data collection, sharing, analysis and federation of natural history data for rare disease. RARE-X is a cross-disorder research program, currently collecting data for over 100 rare diseases, including neurodevelopmental, neurodegenerative, neuromuscular, immunology, renal, and mitochondrial conditions.

RARE-X is a research program of Global Genes, a non-profit 501c3 organization, whose mission is to support next generation advocacy by providing patient advocates with a continuum of services to accelerate their path from early support and awareness to research readiness,
using a collaborative approach that involves biopharma, researchers and funders, with data as a central core.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Conduct quality assurance / user acceptance testing to validate new data collection surveys and system modifications and enhancements
* Provide structured feedback to development team
* Participate in the development of detailed test plans, test scripts and test data.
* Develop familiarity with established data models for the systematic analysis of internal and external biomedical data sets.
* Align data points for new surveys and patient-reported outcome measures (PROs) to existing data models for integration onto the RARE-X platform.
 
REQUIREMENTS:
* Undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in biology, biostatistics, bioinformatics, computational biology or similar field
* At least one class successfully completed in biostatistics or coding
* Familiarity with medical terminology important
* Familiarity with medical coding and ontologies a plus
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Detail-oriented, with demonstrated ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and maintain detailed records
* Must reside in and be authorized to work in the United States

Pay range is $22 – $25 per hour depending on relevant experience.
