Global Genes to Premiere 30-Second PSA at the Daytona 500

February 21, 2013

Attendees of the Daytona 500 will likely see more than just cars speeding around the track this weekend. Over 200,000 viewers will also play audience to a public service announcement about rare disease by the Global Genes Project. The 30 second clip is scheduled to run over 70 times during the event.

The Global Genes Project is a leading patient advocacy organization representing the rare and genetic disease community. The PSA comes just in time for World Rare Disease Day on February 28th, 2013. Global Genes is inviting industry partners, patients, caregivers, family and friends of the tens of millions of people who suffer from rare and genetic diseases to Wear That You Care™ during the entire month of February to show their support.

World Rare Disease Day is a day of advocacy to call attention to rare conditions in the United States and across the globe. This day is celebrated on the last day of February each year. Over 300 leading partner organizations and foundations and thousands of advocates and supporters have already signed on to participate in the popular Wear That You Care™ and Blue Denim Genes Ribbon™ awareness campaign.

Attendees of the Daytona 500 can also get involved with the campaign by answering questions live with Global Gene’s on-site communication team who will be interviewing viewers on camera to put together a 2-minute reel to be used in future awareness campaigns.

Fans will also have a chance to donate $10 to the Global Genes Project by texting the code “GGP’ to 85944.

Global Genes wants to thank Grazie Media and the Nascar organization for their involvement in bringing the PSA to viewers.
