EveryLife Foundation Presents Rare Artist Contest Showcases Talent of the Rare Disease Community

December 4, 2015

The 2015 Rare Artist contest is entering its final month, and the contest organizers are seeking submissions to help show the world what the rare disease community is capable of!  A program of the EveryLife Foundation for Rare Diseases, the contest boasts more than $3,000 in cash prizes, and is easy to enter on the Rare Artist Facebook page. Entries will be accepted until December 15th, and voting is open through December 22nd, 2015.

The contest allows entrants to submit one piece in the contest for their age group, and asks that each contestant choose their best work.  A wide range of mediums are accepted: painting, photography, mixed media, collages, pottery, and sculptures.

Following the submission deadline, the contest will recognize two pieces in each category, one decided by popular vote and one decided by a panel of rare disease community leaders. The prizes for each category are as follows:
Children (4-11): $100 gift card
Teens (12-17): $250 gift card
Adults (18+): $500 gift card
Adults- Photography/Digital Art (18+): $500 gift card

Winning pieces will be displayed in Washington DC at the EveryLife Foundation for Rare Diseases’ Rare Artist Reception, held during Rare Disease Week on Capitol Hill.  Winning artists will be eligible for travel stipends through the EveryLife Foundation’s Rare Giving program in order to attend the reception on March 3rd.

If you know a member of the rare disease community who is also an artist, be sure to inform them about this exciting opportunity. The contest is seeking more entrants in all categories, particularly among children and teenagers.

Please visit the contest rules page for additional information. If you have questions about the contest, please email Grant Kerber, Associate Director of Communications & Public Policy, at [email protected].
