July Blog Contest: Random Acts of Awareness!

July 1, 2013

Sharing the realities of your (or your child’s) disease can be a challenge. How can you help friends, family—even strangers to understand what life is like with a rare, chronic or genetic illness?

This month at The Global Genes Project we’re asking you to show us your “Random Acts of Awareness.”

Maybe you wrote a letter to your friends to explain how your symptoms impact your ability to hang out. Maybe you told a story to your boss or co-worker that really helped them to understand how your job is impacted by your disease. Perhaps you even came up with a creative way to introduce your disease to a stranger at a coffee shop.

Wrote a book? Handed out a business card? Made an infographic? Shared a blog post? Told a story? Wrote a Facebook post? Started a twitter campaign? Had a flashmob? Took out an ad in your local newspaper? There are literally millions of ways to create a random act of awareness. What’s yours?

Tell us how you got the message across by sharing your story or pictures here. Our top three most creative entries will win a prize pack from Global Genes. One entry per person. This contest is open to anyone, any age, from anywhere.  All entries must be submitted by Monday, July 29th, 2013 at Midnight EST. Winners will be announced on Wednesday, July 31st. Entries will be shared live on the site each week.
