Brachydactyly Type A7

Overview

Type of disease: Rare conditions

Brachydactyly Type A7, also known as Smorgasbord type, is a form of brachydactyly. Brachydactyly Type A7 is a combination of birth defects, or a syndrome. Normally there are three bones in each finger. This syndrome is characterized by shortening of the middle bone of the index and pinky finger, and shortening of the distal phalanx (bone in the tip of the finger) in the thumb. Brachydactyly Type A7 has only been seen in one family, and thus treatment varies on a case-by-case basis.
