Survey Translation Support Intern/Associate — French or Portuguese

ROLE SUMMARY:

Global Genes is looking for a looking for a Translation Support Intern to join our team on a part-time basis. The internship requires 10-15 hours of remote work per week. This position may evolve into a longer term and potentially full-time position.

The ideal candidate will have base-level knowledge in data collection / structure and be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in biology, chemistry, or related fields.  Our internship provides an opportunity for students to gain practical experience with data collection tool development. In addition, the intern will learn about and engage in building data dictionaries for online assessment surveys in English and foreign languages at a health tech organization.

RARE-X is a Global Genes program focused on supporting the acceleration and development of life-altering treatments and future cures for patients impacted by rare diseases. Enabled by best-in-class technology, patients, researchers, and partners, RARE-X will support patients and advocates to gather structured, high-quality, standardized data to share broadly, benefitting from 21st-century governance, consent, and federated data sharing platform technology. RARE-X intends to build the largest collaborative patient-driven, open-data access platform for rare diseases globally.

Responsibilities:
The intern will work with data management and tech development teams to 
* Assist with review and implementation of French or Portuguese translations of RARE-X data collection surveys and documents
* Support the development and revision of data dictionaries in multiple languages

Qualifications:
* High level proficiency (reading and writing) in French or Portuguese
* Entry-level experience with data collection / structure
* Enrolled in undergraduate or graduate degree program in biology, chemistry, or related fields
* Detail-oriented
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Experience with online assessment / survey development (preferred)

Compensation:
Pay range is $18 – $21 per hour depending on relevant experience.
